The California State Board of Equalization (BOE) administers the following tax programs: Property Tax, Alcoholic Beverage Tax, and Tax on Insurers.
Note: All other tax programs previously administered by the BOE (Sales and Use Tax or Business Taxes) are now administered by the California Department of Tax and Fee Administration (CDTFA). For information on CDTFA's tax programs, please visit CDTFA's website or call 1-800-400-7115.
For employee work verifications for BOE employees, please call the California Department of Tax and Fee Administration at 1-916-309-0100. The BOE does not have this information.
If you have a question on a BOE tax program that is not addressed on our website, please contact us.
For your protection, the BOE does not require you to submit your social security number or any other personal information you consider confidential on your inquiry.
Service of Process: The BOE Legal Department recommends an appointment to facilitate in-person service of process (i.e. summons and complaint, court orders, writs, subpoenas or other legal service) on the State Board of Equalization.
