Tax Help for Small Businesses
California is home to hundreds of thousands of small businesses, each critical to the state's economy. California cannot succeed without the jobs that prospering businesses provide.
My goal is for taxpayers to pay the right amount of tax owed—not too little, but also not too much. The best way to achieve this is through voluntary compliance. Most taxpayers want to do the right thing but California's tax laws and regulations can be complicated and confusing so it's important to be aware of common tax traps so you can avoid making costly mistakes.
The BOE website also has various tax guides that offer tips on getting started, basic information on industry topics, and links to resources that address specific questions and concerns.
Additionally, I hosted two Tax Help for Small Business telephone townhalls with the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) to discuss how sales and use tax issues affect small business owners. In case you missed it, here are the audio recordings: February 4 and February 19
