Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) – Getting Started
Registration
To participate in the Sales and Use Tax EFT Program, you will need to complete form BOE-555-EFT, Authorization Agreement for Electronic Funds Transfer. After your completed form has been received, you will be notified in writing confirming your EFT start date.

To participate in the Special Taxes EFT Program, you will need to complete form BOE-555-ST, Authorization Agreement for Electronic Funds Transfer. After your completed form has been received, you will be notified in writing confirming your EFT start date.

EFT Payment Methods
When you register as an EFT participant, you will need to select one of the following payment methods for your tax payments. To use either method, your financial institution will need to participate in the National Automated Clearing House Association (NACHA).
- ACH Debit
ACH Debit is an electronic transaction in which you authorize the BOE to withdraw funds from your account and deposit them into the BOE’s account. You initiate the transaction and specify the amount and date of the withdrawal. - ACH Credit
ACH Credit is an electronic transaction in which you authorize your financial institution to debit your account and credit the BOE’s account. For this type of transaction you must ensure your financial institution has the ability to send ACH credit transactions in the required format.
Changing EFT Registration
To make a change in any of the following registration information:
- Payment methods
- Financial institutions
- Savings or checking account number
- EFT contact person or telephone number
You will need to notify us by completing a new Authorization Agreement for Electronic Funds Transfer form BOE-555-EFT, (Sales and Use Tax) or BOE-555-ST, (Special Taxes)
Types of EFT Payments
- For Sales and Use tax accounts you can pay your returns and prepayments.
- For Special Taxes accounts you can pay your returns, prepayments and accounts receivables.
